Re: Tropheus Bloat Recurrence and Treatment

Hi Marty, Pam is in Africa right now enjoying herself! I wish I was there too, but cannot go. Instead I am watching "Ask Pam" for her. Unfortunately, you've asked something that's beyond me. If there is anyone out there who has gone through what Marty has or has some advice, please message...

Re: Calming the Bream

Here's hoping I can help you out while Pam is enjoying her Africa trip! Personally, I would redecorate your tank. You need to break up the line of sight for these guys it seems. In the wild they are found in large schools, so adding more rhoadesii should also help. I am sure that's not the quickest ...

Re: Yellow lab "Mbowe" & "Kakusa" different??

Pam is away for the moment and I will do my best to answer, and if my research is wrong, I am sure Pam will correct me when she gets back. The forms from Lion's cove, Kakusa and Mbowe are yellow form caeruleus. From what I can see the Kakusa form has blue on the edge of the dorsal. The Mbowe seem to...

Your best friend in the search is google or other search engine. You can also ask in this forum, or on the main CRC forum for help with specific examples.

Alistair,

What you see on the link is the last I have heard. Maybe Pam has heard more.

Re: Lamprologus Ornatipinnis ? Or What?

Paul, Pam should be back shortly to help you better. How long have they been in your tank? Just curious if they are showing you their best 'colours' or if they're still stressed. It is very possible the store got in 2 separate species. It may be best to wait for Pam to make her judgement though. :)

Re: Convict Cichlids - some help please!

You can ask your local petstore if they would take any of the convicts from you. You can offer them to others online. Convicts breed easily and as you have found out, they become very protective then. Giving the fish away should solve your population problem. If you still like the convicts, you can ...

Re: Gone to Africa - 2016

Pam will be gone to Africa shortly. She will be back around the end of June. I will do my best to step into some awfully large shoes. Hope you have a fun trip Pam. We would like to see some photos!

Re: Total number of cichlid spesies

According to cichlidae.com "The catalog of all cichlid species, listing 1,665 generally accepted and 578 potentially undescribed species". I would think there are probably more than that though.

Wow, that does not look very nice at all. Without getting it tested, it 'appears' to be a tumour of some sort. Did this show up suddenly or has it been coming a little at a time?

Very odd looking. I have never seen anything like it. I made your images smaller and have uploaded them here.

Re: Egg problem again

Wow, sounds like a lot of problems. At the very least I would be doing some more water changes, to help clear up the tank and hopefully deal with any other issues. The picture was tough to see. Are there a lot of them in your tank? Can you try for a clearer image of these things?

Re: possible breeding?

Have a look at the chin area on the suspected female. Does it appear more rounded? Does the fish make chewing motions? If so, you most likely have a female holding. If not, then the other fish is harassing it too much. Are they the only fish in the 20?
