Re: Long Winded Stocking Question
Hi Ad Johnson, I do think larger tanks are easier to maintain, smaller tanks can be more tedious, but it is the life of a fishkeeper. With a tank that size you do have a lot of options, and the issue with all male tanks is getting the fish to color up. You could have multiple males of the same speci...

Re: Stocking please help
Hi PuiEdylie, I think you have a pretty good list there. The only think I might suggest is to switch out a few of the Aulonocara, and swap them out with some Aulonocara jacobfreibergi. Peacocks can be quite timid sometimes in these situations, and don't show their potential color, but the Jakes are ...

Hi Jan,
I looked around some, but I couldn't find any info regarding how much is in a scoop. I did find their toll free number though for customer service :1-800-847-0659
Give them a call, I am sure they can help you.

Re: Etymology of the msobo name
Hi AFOL, I did a some searching and I could not come up with anything. It is not a collecting point, so it may be named after someone. It could the be the diver who found it, there are many possibilities. There are also many different languages spoke among the native people, and it could be somethin...

Re: mixed african stocking in large system
Hi Jim, If you don't want fish breeding, then going with all males is certainly an option. There are many different peacocks, mellow haps, and predator haps to choose from. It really boils down to personal taste. Personally I think peacock wise, the Aulonocara jacobfreigbergi types are the nicest, t...

Hi Fred, I am not sure of the name either. But I do know that if you go to a gravel store or landscape store, they often have jars that you can see the gravel/sand in. It really helps if you can look at them, because it sounds like you have a specific one in mind. Sand comes in a variety of colors a...

Re: Dwarf cichlid suggestions for community tank
Hi Sharon, Sounds like a fun couple tanks in the making. It can be a bit confusing, part of it is the word dwarf. To me a real dwarf is any cichlid 3" or under. Some cichlids are known as dwarfs, and some even have dwarf in their common name. Many people think there are only dwarf cichlids in S...

Hi Dee, You should never buy a fish without researching it first, it is very important to know the scientific name. It is very important to know the requirements of their diet and how to maintain them. Just buying a bunch of different fish and throwing them together is a recipe for a disaster and is...

Re: Pseudotropheus sp. 'perspicax tanzania' Puulu
Hi Izak,
I can't find where OB's have been observed in the wild or turned up in any vats. But I have no scientific proof. There are a lot of mbuna that do have OB females and alot of them are Pseudotroheus.
I have not heard of any, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Hi Gavin,
It is a controversial subject, I don't think there is any scientific evidence and I don't believe it has been observed in the wild.
One thing for sure there have been no reportings of females fertilizing their own eggs.

Hi Hope,
I would follow the directions on the box, they will tell you when to change your water. Once you have completed the treatment, you should also do a water change.
I hope it all works out.

Re: Where do I go on this site to find fish for sale.
Hi pajones, There isn't an ACA trading post anymore. There is the trading section on CRC, but I don't think a lot of people use it. I think there is more fish listed on Facebook than anywhere, forums are not very popular anymore. You just go to a cichlid site that is for Tanganyikan Cichlids and say...
