Re: Victorian Haps and Malawian Copadichromis

Hope you don't mind me chiming in since I'm helping Pam out while she's on a 'fish holiday". I personally don't see a problem with the fish mentioned, but I will check further and let you know. I used to keep nyererei in with all sort of Malawians and never noticed any inappropriate mating beha...

Re: White Feces

It's hard to diagnose something without seeing it. Which fish are showing the white feces? Sometimes it could be due to the actual food, or it can be a sign of stress. If it's only a temporary thing I would not worry on it. If it happens all the time, we need to work out the cause.

Re: Best Food

Pam is on an extended fish holiday at the moment, but I'll see what I can do. Fossorochromis rostratus eats mainly crustaceans and insects in the wild. So, your best bet is to try and follow that diet as best you can. Shrimp, and high protein foods should be on their menu. You can even feed small me...

Re: Rocks

Is there any way you can figure out what kind of rocks you have? If they're granite they'll be fine. If you really want to make sure, you may need to set the rocks in a container with a few test fish to see if they do ok. I use rocks that are found in my local area as well.

Re: id needed

Hi Miktor,

Unfortunately I am unable to ID your Apistogramma for you. I see you have posted this thread on the CRC forum as well. Hopefully someone there can ID them (I'm thinking of Mike Wise) there.

Your English is fine! Much better than any Polish I could try. :)

Re: still have green cloudy water

You could have the lights on for less time. That may help some. Beyond that, if you your tests are fine, then you may have to wait it out.

Maybe Pam will have other suggestions for you when she returns shortly.

Re: cloudy, green water

Could you tell me the water parameters you tested and what the results are? Also, if possible can you tell me the best by date of the tests? How long do you keep any tank lights on for? Is the tank close to a window? The cause of most algae blooms is too much nutrients in the water or too much light...

Re: Gone Fishin' to Malawi

I hope you have a great time Pam, and we'd all love to hear about it when you get back. BTW... lots of pics would be appreciated. :)

I'll do my best to answer what I can, and for what I can't, I'll leave that for Pam to answer when she gets back.

I think this setup will be a great addition to the Cichlid Room Companion. I think it will make it easier for people to "Ask Pam" their questions. It is also nicely set up for people to check for information on the types of cichlids they are interested in (Malawians, or Centrals for exampl...
