feeding cichlids in community tank

Post by crawdad »

Hi Pam - When feeding cichlids in a community tank , will the cichlids come to the surface and eat with other fish ,or is there anotherway to feed them ? I am trying to get the answers before I get the fish. Also would a divider in the tank help to keep two different species apart until they get accustom to their new surroundings .Plan is pair of cactoides and pair of trifascrata or borellii ?
Thanks crawdad

Crawdad,

They should come to the top and feed with the rest of the fish. If they don't then they are not comfortable with their surroundings. Providing they are settled in their tank, new fish may take a few times before they get the routine down.
