What temp is good for a african tank
i have two jewels and the rest are assorted is 80-85 a good temp.
Hi Adog,
I don't think it is good to keep African Riverene's with Rift Lake Africans, it is not a good mix. They have totally different diets and require different water conditions. While the Jewel's may be able to take a warmer temperture the Rift Lake cichlids do not do well in that at all. I think it is best to keep your temp around 74 - 76 degrees F. Higher temperatures shorten the life span of your fish, increase aggression and play havoc with your water conditions, more pollution and less oxygen.
It would be best to lower your temperature gradually to get it down to a more reasonable temp for all your fish. Then you need to decide if you want to work with Rift Lake cichlids, or Riverene cichlids. I think your fish will be much happier in the long run.
