Hi Pam,
My family has a 400 litre tank (approximately 88 gallons). We are worried about over crowding our tank as our African cichlids have been breeding. What is the recommended number of fish in a tank of our size? We have approximately 30 now, including the baby fish.
One of our female fish especially always seems to be breeding. Is there any thing that we can do to at least slow her down so that our fish population doesn't grow become too big for our tank size?
Sincerely,
Mariel
How many fish in a tank?

Hi Mariel,
It really depends on a lot of different factors. How you have your tank decorated, more rocks, less fish, less rocks, more fish. It depends on the species, as size varies so much, it depends on their current size and age. Your filtration is also a factor. These fish are born to breed, so you may want to consider trading the female in if you don't want to deal with the fry.
