Moving Tropheus in new tank

Post by marmildu »

Dear Pam,
I am new member of this forum and first let me introduce myself.
I am from Belgrade, Serbia and also fun of cichlids especialy Tropheus.
In Tropheus I am for five years and I have had them in very big tanks 450 l and 400l. Regarding reparation of my home I lost all of them , not all because half I gave to my friends as a present.
Now I started again. In this moment i have 12 Maswa and 6 Bulu Point tropheus in one tank about 250l. I know that it is little for them, but new tanks are under constructions. Yesterday I take out 9 little Bulu Point and wait for other female in next week.
I know that You prefer one species in one tank. Of course I prefere too.
Please give me advise about the most secure way of transfer them in new tanks and is it ok to include these new bulu points in the tank when they grow up with their parents.
Thank You very much in advance.

Hey Marm,

You are correct, I don't like to mix my Tropheus, but sometimes you have to do what you have to do, and hopefully it will only be temporary. You should be able to mix in your juveniles when you get your bigger tanks going. Usually 1.5-2" fry usually do fine when introduced in to groups. Like any time you are introducing new fish, keep in an eye on them.
