Hi Imgentry,

Well they are definitely Hemichromis, but I am not that strong on the West Africans. I would have two guesses out of the process of elimination, and they may be different species. And you need full pictures, the tail is cut off on one of these shots, so I am just going out on a limb and will say:

Hemichromis stellifer
Hemichromis lifalili

As I can't reply in this forum I would like to give an answer to lmgentry's query as to species & sex of his hemichromis that was posted back in May.. The fish pictured are almost dead ringers for the Togolese H.GUTTATUS that Paul Loiselle shipped to me back in the late 60's. The upper fish is the male & the lower one is the female. These could very well be descendents of the F1's that I distributed around the country way back then. I do recall sending some to Bill Macrum @ Beldt's in St. Louis. As Togo is not a major source for african imports, this is a real possibility. Only a few females showed the red/yellow pattern in my stock, most were solid red.
Thanks Veijo!
