hi, many thanks for your reply, these are some fish im realy interested in keeping if you could put them into compatible groups and advise me in the amount to get for my size tank 6x2x2 i would be gratefull. the fish are for a show tank in my living room so im not to bothered about breeding.

nandopsis tetracanthus.
parachromis loiselli.
tomochicla asfraci.
vieja argentia.
herichthys carpintes escondido

Hi Jaykay,

Okay, I can see you have excellent taste in Central American Cichlids!!! Those are all nice ones!

I think maybe a good way to look at the fish you are mixing together is the size of their mouths. Example, N. tetracanthus and P. loiselli are bigger fish and going to have bigger mouths. The bigger the mouth the more of a predator they are, and generally speaking they are more aggressive. They are not going to make good tank mates

While your Vieja, Tomochicla and Herichthys, all have smaller mouths, they are going to make better tankmates. I think these three would be great to start with, and I would get 6 of each and let them grow up in your tank, and sit back and enjoy them.

Sounds like a nice tank in the making!
