Hi Pam,
I finally got up the nerve to strip my female Protomelas similis, and have a bunch of fry now. As they grow, I need to start more tanks, I know. However, I was wondering if a big bunch could go in a 55gal tank which I am not currently using, or should I divide them into smaller groups in different set-ups. Any idea of appropriate numbers, etc?
Thanks for any suggestions!
Kate

Hey Kate,
Congrats on the spawns. I think it is better to keep the small fry in smaller containers, like 10 gallon tanks until they are at least 1/2" - 3/4". After that it should be fine. You want your fry to be able to find the food, and often in larger aquariums they can't find it or it is hogged by larger fry. So just keep an eye on them and make sure they are getting enough food and plenty of water changes.
