bloodworms for shell dwellers?

Post by ltb0076 »

Hi Folks,
I'm a new member of the Cichlid Room Companion and I was
wondering if I might get some help concerning feeding blood worms
[mosquito larvae] to Lamprologus brevis.
Seems that I have read somewhere that one should NEVER feed shell
dwellers blood worms because they are too rich in proteins.
What do our members think?
Thanks,
Lance

Hi Lance,

In the Ask Pam Forum, you will only get my opinion, so consider asking this question in the Cichlid Room Companion Forum for more comments.

So you are asking if you can feed blood worms (Mosquito Larvae), these are actually two different foods. And both are fine to feed to your Tanganyikan shell dwellers. They are very rich, and should be fed sparingly, but these types of foods can help you get your fish in good condition so they are more apt to breed.
