Hi Pam,
I have been thinking about getting a pair of wild caught Julie's, and was wondering some advice on keeping them and breeding them especially. I've kept Julie's before but never by themselves and defiantly not wild caught ones.
Thanks in advance,
Sean

Sean,
Nice!!! There are several ways to start out. First you want to make sure they are not fresh from the lake, if so you would want to quarantine them for 4 - 6 weeks.
But after that, they should be fine in a community tank. I think I would start with that, the pair bond of Julies is not the best, you may have a male and a female but they have to love each other! In a community setting with other Tanganyikans Cichlids they would have to defend a territory and this is great for increasing the bond. You provide a few spawning type caves in your tank and then just let nature take its course.
You could go with a smaller tank in the begining, but keep a close eye on them, if they are not bonded they could trash each other.
I love Julies!
