XYSTICHROMIS SP. KYOGA FLAME BACK

Post by Fish Guy »

Hey Pam, I was wondering if you could share some info on these fish. I have been searching around but unable to find much on them. I was wondering about breeding, minimum tank size, tank setup, preferred food etc.. Thanks for the help.

Hi Matt,

This beautiful Victorian Cichlid is beautiful, its availability can be spotty as it is mostly bred by hobbyists. They are what I would call your typical Vic's. They do best in a group and in a species only tank. I think 55 gal is the right size to start with, and I would get 12 to 18 specimens. Most of these Vic types will breed at less then a year old, so lots of fresh water and good foods, and they will be spawning in no time. This maternal mouthbrooder will hold her brood for about 21 - 28 days before they release them naturally

Its a nice one to work with!
