Sick Fish

Post by Namvet15m »

Pam

I have a Cichlid, Not sure of breed. Its the size of a perch and is multicolored. I suspect her is 4 years or older but not sure. He recently is laying on bottom of tank on its side. If I gentle move him wiht a small pole he'll swiim a bit and then return to the bottom of tank, does not appear to eat but he is fat

Thank you

Hi Namvet,

That doesn't sound very good. Very hard to diagnose fish with out seeing them in person. Often when they rest on the bottom it is an internal issue with the air bladder. There isn't anything you can do for that, you will just have to decide when there is not any quality of life, then it is best euthanize. Some fish still eat, they just don't swim much. If you think your fish is fat, you should cut back on your feedings.
