How do I humanely put my fish down?

Post by Shell »

Hi Pam,
Thank you for the info on my Manny. Tried to reset his jaw but no luck. I think it may be broken... He's starting to hang out at the top of the fish tank now, still not eating,
and appears to be getting weaker by each day :0( Was wondering how do I humanely put him down? It''s very hard to see him suffering.
Again, Thank you kindly for your help, Shell

Shell,

Sorry to hear you are having no improvement with your Manny. The most humane way to euthanize a fish is to put in a bowl of water or bag of water, and put it in the freezer. This lowers their temp and metabolizim down and they just go to sleep. It is not painful. Then the next day, take it out and bury it in the flower garden, and he will give you joy by making your garden beautiful!

Hang in there and clean your tank and get your self a new fish, you deserve it!!

Happy Holidays,
