Haplochromis sp. ruby green

I was checking through the catalog and was unable to find Hap. sp. 'Ruby Green'. Is this no longer a valid species? Was this fish finally described?

This sounds bad. Who is going to pay a lease and pay to fix it up?

Did anything else change? What is your water temp? Did you do a water change recently? Do you feed live foods?

Re: Chuco tank

Chuco sp. are good looking fish. I wish you could have used the flash on the camera to show off their colors better. But, I must say they are still great looking fish.

Re: What can I do?

It is not your water changes, and unless their is an electrical short in your filter passing current into your tank those should be fine. I personally would add another hang on the back filter. Not necessarily another Aquaclear 110, just something smaller to assist with more water flow. You do not m...

Re: Identifying Tilapia spp.

by fishy1rt » Sat Mar 13, 2010 11:08 pm Ok, sorry to take this post in another direction. But after reading another post, I am now convinced that my fish are the Tilapia sp. "cross river." They did come from an OCA event and the timing is about right. They have been living, forgotten in a 4ft tank ...

They are weak and slow growing. From my understanding they were a hybrid (dempsey x carpintis). Was they ever validated?

Re: Uaru Fernandezyepezi

They are absolutely beautiful fish. They are expensive and very hard to come by here in Pittsburgh, Pa. Actually, I have never seen them for sale here anywhere. They would definitely have to be shipped in which just adds to their high price tag.

Re: Crenicichla from saxatilis group

http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=152983 The vertical barring above the lateral line, and the position of the black spots or eye spot, to me this suggests Cr. sveni. It is a more common species at LFS. At least here it is more common. The reason I said 2 females, is because of th...

Could be Cr. sveni. I think it could be 2 females.

From this picture I think Cr. alta may be a possibility. This from Vinny Cutty's web site Mostly Cichlids. Some of the photos are blurred and make it hard to Id anything.

Re: Pike ID?

I may be wrong. It could be Cr. sp. belly crawler. Usually that species doesn't swim up in the water column. They bounce along the bottom because of the under developed swim bladder.

Re: Pike ID?

The picture is a little blurred. It looks to me to be a female. As to the species I am not sure yet. It is not Cr. sveni or Cr. sp. belly crawler.

Black markings suggests Convict, body suggests Thorichthys. Definitely hydrid.

Re: Efasciatus sex ID

It has been a while since I have owned severums. I always went by the markings between the eyes. If the eys had the bars connecting them it was a male. Females had no barring in between. Would that hold true for the all of the Heros species?
