Discussion about dwarf cichlids from anywhere

About a month ago i bought 6 young German Rams and started them in a 20H aquarium, sponge filter, temp 78 F. with floating plants and a pot. Next day one was dead and a pair chasing the last three males. Moved the 3 into another aquarium. The female of the pair is less than an inch long, her mate about 1 1/4 inches. They spawned 6 days later in a corner on the bottom glass. They ate the eggs 3 days later and the female started bullying the male. I took him out after he lost his breeding colors. The female spawned 2 weeks later same spot and no male. My question is: are they mini Rams?? By the way one of my sons and I raised over a 1,000 gold rams some 20 years ago and never had Rams that size spawn. Thanks for you thoughts. Art
As far as I know there are no "mini Rams" only those that are not full-grown. My guess, since the Rams are sexually mature, is that their growth was retarded due to overcrowding, poor maintenance, or poor nutrition at the beginning.
