保育: Water pollution is not a risk at Katondo Point. But the population north and south of Katondo has tripled in the last two decades. There is increased farming and large livestock near the lake.

Overfishing is a mess, the use of unconventional fishing methods, illegal fishing gear and nets, and the lack of enforcing the fishing rules and regulations are leading to the decline of fish in the lake.
