" Apistogramma wapisana sp. n. is described on the base of ten spécimens collected in two Igarapés in the Boa Vista surrondings, in the upper Rio Branco-System, Brazil. This small species belongs to the Apistrogramma-pertensis-group, showing only 3 infraorbital-pores, and is the first Apistogramma species described with the males generally smaller than females. This species is characterized by its samll size, very little and/or revised sexual dimorphism, small mouth, narrow lateral band, big lateral spot, very small but distinct caudal spot as well as by its specific color pattern and behavior, especially during reproduction "
