" This attractive cichlid appears to have been introduced into the German hobby in the early 1930s, when it was first mentioned in the aquarium literature under the scientific name Cichlasoma cutteri and the common name Weinrotflossiger Buntbarsch (Wine red fin cichlid) (Holly et al, 1932). More recently, specimens were collected by Rusty Wessel et al (1996) from the Río Papaloteca Basin in northern Honduras "
