Conservation: Aulonocara ethelwynnae is evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species as (NT) near threatened (2018). Aulonocara ethelwynnae is rather common at Chitande Island but rare at Mdoka, the only other site where they sometimes can be encountered.
