Conservation: Mylochromis mola is evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species as (LC) least concern (2018). Even though M. mola lives in shallow water and could easily get caught in beach seines, most individuals of the population live in intermediate habitats where seines cannot be employed and are thus relatively secure from overfishing.
