Conservation: Labeotropheus aurantinfra is not evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species. L. aurantinfra is not targeted by local fishermen and could only be threatened by overfishing for the ornamental fish trade. However, large Labeotropheus are not in high demand by the aquarium hobby and I believe the population around Chirwa Island is secure for now.
