Even though this species faces a variety of threats related to illegal gold mining, urbanization and industrial activities, the extent of occurrence is very large and there are at least four subpopulations that are not facing any apparent threat, which might rescue those other subpopulations potentially affected by the aforementioned threats. About 30% of its population occurs within protected areas, such as the natural monuments Cerro Guaiquinima and Sierra Maigualida and the national park that encompasses the Caura River. (Echevarría, 2019).
