Conservation: Labeotropheus artatorostris is evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species as (LC) least concern (2018). Labeotropheus artatorostris occurs in Lake Malawi National Park, and it is not targeted by the ornamental fish trade. Continuing declines in habitat quality or population size are possible but unlikely (Konings, 2018).
