A male of Tilapia pra collected by the author from the Birim River, a tributary of the Prah [Ghana], while working as a Peace Corps volunteer at the Volta Lake Research Project. While not as colorful as some of the Lake Bermin tilapias, this is a rather attractive fish. The yellow coloration is much more intense in breeding fish. While this species is more of an insectivore than the generality of riverine tilapias, it will do a job on plants under aquarium conditions. It is also rather more intolerant of conspecifics than is usually the case with Tilapia species. It is not as bad in this regard as T. buettikoferi, but it is still no candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize. Photo by Paul V Loiselle. determiner Anton Lamboj
