Conservación: Apistogramma panduro es evaluada por la Unión Internacional para la Conservación de la Naturaleza en la lista roja de especies amenazadas como (LC) Poca preocupación (2014). Apistogramma panduro, just like many other Peruvian Apistogramma species, is limited to small streams flowing under dense forest. This, in face of the increasing deforestation and mining (often illegal) in Peru exposes Apistogramma panduro to threat. Luckily, the vast majority of the species' distribution area has recently (2009) been included in the Tamshiyacu Tahuayo Regional Conservation Area (Área de conservación regional Comunal Tamshiyacu Tahuayo). Hopefully this will secure the future of this little gem and other species of animals and plants found in this bio-diverse area.
