Conservation: Apistogramma piaroa is evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species as (LC) least concern (2020). The main threat to Apistogramma piaroa is found in the southern Orinoco-Ventuari delta, due to illegal mining that takes place in Yacapana National Park. For the rest of the distribution, there are no specific plausible threats, and the distribution also overlaps with some areas of environmental management and national parks (Mesa Salazar, 2022).
