Original description as Neolamprologus timidus:

ZooBank:651DDF79-32AD-4B35-B278-3B4A593ED946.

  • Kullander, Sven & Michael Norén, Mikael Karlsson, Magnus Karlsson. 2014. "Description of Neolamprologus timidus, new species, and review of N. furcifer from Lake Tanganyika (Teleostei: Cichlidae)". Ichthyological Explorations of Freshwaters. 24(4):301 - 328 (crc06100) (abstract)

Conservation: Neolamprologus timidus is not evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species. With a distribution area of about 100 km shoreline and with a very secretive life style, it is not likely that N. timidus will ever be threatened with over-fishing.
