Conservation: Champsochromis spilorhynchus is evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species as (LC) least concern (2006). Since most water plants of the inshore areas have been eliminated by frequent beach seining I fear that this species is in a serious decline.
