Conservation: Labeotropheus simoneae is evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species as (LC) least concern (2018). Despite its restricted range, future declines in habitat quality or population size are unlikely. Extraction by the ornamental fish trade is another potential threat but this has been ongoing for several decades without an apparent decline in the population size (Konings, 2018).
