Conservation: Laetacara curviceps is evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species as (LC) least concern (2018). Laetacara curviceps is an species endemic of Brazil, where it is widely distributed, occurring in the lower portion of the Amazon River tributaries, where it is frequent and abundant. Despite being collected to be marketed as ornamental, no significant threats are detected to endanger its populations (ICMBio, 2022).
