Conservation: Symphysodon aequifasciatus is evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species as (LC) least concern (2018). Symphysodon aequifasciatus is widely distributed, found in the central and east portion of the basin Amazonian in tributaries along the Solimões-Amazonas System. The species is marketed as ornamental and is also found in regional fishing markets. No threats were detected that could significantly endanger the populations (Instituto Chico Mendes de Conservação da Biodiversidade (ICMBio), 2022).
