Conservation: Lamprologus werneri is evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species as (VU) vulnerable (2009). Urbanization is a problem in the region through sewage cast and lead toxicity, mainly coming from car oil and a lot of boot traffic (Moelants, 2009). The species is known from fewer than 10 locations.
