Original description as Apistogramma elizabethae:

ZooBank:72F710DB-FA4F-4AAF-A1F3-CB153C571007.

  • Kullander, Sven. 1980. "A taxonomical study of the genus Apistogramma Regan, with a revision of Brazilian and Peruvian species (Teleostei: Percoidei: Cichlidae)". Bonner Zoologische Monographien. 1-152 (crc00334)

Conservation: Apistogramma elizabethae is evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species as (LC) least concern (2018). Considering the remoteness of its distribution, Apistogramma elizabethae and its sympatric species should remain safe in the near future; what remains to be determined is the impact of the collections of wild specimens for the hobby on some of the most sought-after populations.
