Synonyms (1):

Conservation: Trematochromis benthicola is evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species as (LC) least concern (2006). Due to its cryptic habits, not likely to be overfished. Population unlikely to be adversly affected since it lives deep within rocky areas throughout the lake.
