Conservation: Pseudotropheus johannii is evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species as (LC) least concern (2018). Pseudotropheus johannii is one of the most common mbuna in intermediate and rocky habitats, and too small to be of any value as food fish, hence it suffers no threats to its existence.
